Functional Layered Materials Technologies & Stakeholders Workshop

+ Hackathon

June 18-19, 2024

INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory | Braga - Portugal

Thank You!

June 18-19, 2024
We had the immense pleasure of meeting a vibrant group of people at INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory.

First, we delved into insightful talks and lively discussions on spin-based applications and energy storage. The exchange of ideas among stakeholders from academia, the private sector, and policymakers led us to a most fruitful discussion on the latest developments and future perspectives for Functional Layered Materials.

Then, we rolled up our sleeves and dove deep into an incredible hands-on session dedicated to the MCSA Postdoctoral Fellowships with an enthusiastic team of young researchers, grant experts, and experienced scientists.

These actions aimed to establish the foundations for facilitating knowledge sharing and cooperation between relevant actors in the field, and we couldn't be more excited about the opportunities lying ahead.

It was a pleasure, and we're already looking forward to the next exciting adventure!

Between June 18 and 19, FUNLAYERS promotes a two-day gathering focused on the latest developments and future perspectives for Functional Layered Materials.

The initiative presents two key actions:

  • 💡 Stakeholders Workshop | June 18: an exciting full-day agenda featuring insightful talks on spin-based applications and energy storage;

  • 🛠️✍🏿 FUNLAYERS Hackathon | June 19: a hands-on activity designed for early-stage researchers* interested in developing a sound individual proposal framed under the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call for 2024.

These actions aim to establish the foundations to facilitate knowledge sharing and cooperation between relevant actors in the field, bringing together stakeholders from academia, the private sector, and policymakers.

The second day will also be dedicated to a closed session with focused discussion groups. Articulated by the organizing committee, participants will meet to set the foundations for future project collaboration and funded proposal submissions.

*Candidates must possess a PhD at the 2024 call deadline (September 11th). They must have a maximum of 8 years of research experience after a PhD (except for career breaks or work outside research). Mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
